WP 101: Bethel, Hillsong & Elevation Church—Should we use their music?

 

There has been some controversy stirring around the practices of a few highly influential churches in contemporary worship. What are the issues? Are there truly some biblical conflicts with them? And if so, should other churches continue to utilize their music in corporate worship services?

 

So what are the issues with these churches and how much should we be concerned?

 

What unites Christians? What are the essentials?

The historic creed that has been historically fundamental, irreducible, and uniting for Christians:

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; 

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary; 

suffered under Pontius Pilate, 

was crucified, dead and buried;

I believe in the Holy Spirit; 

the holy catholic (universal) Church; 

the communion of saints; 

the forgiveness of sins; 

the resurrection of the body; 

and the life everlasting. Amen.
